2007 Roger Hill 48 Power Cat

Annapolis, Maryland

Sea Star is now in indoor heated winter storage. Dual helm stations, generator, A/C, inverter, long range, 2 staterooms and 2 oversize heads with showers. The boat was listed for sale after the haul-out so it is not possible to get nice exterior photos.  The interior photos were taken January 2023.

Sea Star was custom designed and built in New Zealand for very experienced yachting couple. This is the third power cat Roger Hill designed for these owners.  She is a planing design powered with twin Yanmar 480's inboard diesels with 1150 hours~. Sea Star will easily cruise in the low 20 knot range using 50% of the fuel of a similar mono hull.

Exterior finished in fresh exterior Awlgrip, custom color similar to Stars and Stripes blue, slightly gray/green tint with jade green boot stripe.

The build quality, design, economy and performance are very impressive.

Carbon fiber bulkheads, carbon internal structure and E glass.

Generator, inverter, cockpit grille. Storage galore. Very well thought out design.

Owners have a new build in progress.

From the designer

From Roger Hill Yacht Design

The 14.6m (48') composite planing hull power cat Sea Star was built in NZ for an American client who had 3 previous power cats from our studio. It is based in Maryland (summers in Maine) and is in excellent condition and had a complete re-paint recently. The boat was built from an ATL Composites pre-made, pre-cut composite panel system with a foam cored and E glass hull and deck and a foam cored and carbon internal structure with carbon secondary bonding.

This super strong light weight planing cat is very efficient and can actually get up on a plane with one engine.

The interior has 2 sleeping cabins and 2 bathrooms. The galley is ‘down’ in the port hull which creates a comfortable lounge. The internal helm station is elevated and roomy.

Fitted with a pair of 6LY 480hp Yanmars, genset, air conditioning, etc. Top speed of 30 knots and very economic cruising from 17 to 25 knots consuming 20 gph at 20 knots~.
